View storage group snapshot compliance details

The Snapshot policy feature provides snapshot orchestration at scale (1,024 snaps per storage group). The feature simplifies snapshot management for snapshots.

About this task

See Understanding Snapshot policy for an overview of the snapshot policy functionality.

The Snapshot Policies tab enables you to view current and historical snapshot compliance of the storage group.

The view consists of a time graph for every snapshot policy that is associated with the storage group. The time graph represents the compliance state of the storage group snapshot policy combination. The Y-axis represents the number of snapshots that are expected to exist during the defined time window for the snapshot policy, while the X-axis is time.

When the storage group or snapshot policy is compliant, the line on the chart is green and the value of the Y-axis is the number of snapshots that should be retained. If the compliance status is warning or critical, the Y-axis value drops to the number of snapshots that are retained and the color of the graph changes to yellow, if warning, or red, if critical.

This graph enables you to easily read when the snapshots went out of compliance, how many snapshots were short of the retention amount, and if the problem is getting worse or improving over time. If you select a point on the graph where the compliance status is critical or warning, you can see the list of error messages that are generated for that compliance status in the compliance error view.
